Intended Audience: Teachers, teaching assistants, related service professionals, administrators, etc.

Activity Description: Community-based instruction (CBI) provides hands-on opportunity for students to engage in authentic learning experiences within their community and acquire the skills needed to complete daily life activities in order to become active participants in their community. In this session, participants will learn about a framework for implementing CBI and have opportunities to develop/modify lesson plans that align to state standards.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to define the purpose and importance of CBI.
  • Participants will be able to identify key components of an effective CBI framework.
  • Participants will be able to collaboratively plan/modify CBI lesson plans.

PD Hours: 3.0
Registration/Coffee:  11:45 am to 12:00 pm
Session: 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm
