Intended Audience: Teachers, teaching assistants and other school staff who will be implementing any of these programs over the current school year.

Activity Description: Attainment Literacy programs are research based programs suited for students with significant learning needs.
ELSB a comprehensive literacy program that is designed for students at the earliest stage of reading development. Building with Stories is a guided reading kit that complements the ELSB program.
ERSB is a comprehensive literacy program that takes students to a second grade reading level, and is often used as the next instructional program when students have graduated out or demonstrated mastery of many of the skills taught in the ELSB program. Pathways to Literacy is a reading program designed for students with significant disabilities and provides strategies and materials for increasing awareness and engagement in story reading.
Autumn will provide an overview of the programs and the instructional strategies used in these programs along with sharing how to track and assess students in these programs. If you are already using or plan to use the program, this is a good session for you.

Learning Objectives:

  • *Participants will understand the purpose and rationale of each of these Attainment programs, which includes the scope and sequence of essential skills taught
  • *Participants will learn the direct instruction teaching strategies and materials utilized for each.
  • *Participants will learn how to place students, monitor progress, and determine which programs are appropriate for their students

PD Credit Hours: 5.5
Registration: 8:00 am to 8:30 am
Session: 8:30 am to 3:00 pm; Lunch: (One hour - on your own.)
