A student's sense of belonging has a significant impact on how they feel about their learning environment, and subsequently, about their learning. The climate and culture of our schools is a important factor in our children's school experience. Susan Isaacs, a trainer for Save and Civil Schools, will share with families the five variables that school can manipulate to effect climate and culture and what families can do to contribute in this area.

Susan Isaacs began her career in education teaching children with emotional and behavior disorders. For over 17 years, she worked with this student population in both elementary and secondary schools.  In 1994, she took a position as a behavior consultant for the Kentucky Behavior Consultant Network, which evolved into the Model Schools Program: Kentucky Behavior Initiative, and later the Kentucky Instructional Discipline and Supports (K.I.D.S.) project.   Susan currently is a trainer for Safe and Civil Schools and works with districts on implementation within their schools.
