Strategic Vision I: Programs and Services
NSSED will establish and maintain the standard of excellence for the delivery of programming and services for students with disabilities based on current, state-of-the-art research and practice related to curriculum and instruction. The standard of excellence will be established by using a process of research, implementation, and train-and-coach.
Strategic Vision II: Cooperative Relationships
NSSED will establish and maintain the standard of excellence using school, family and community partnerships to ensure that the student outcomes are realized in educational and non-educational settings currently and in the future. The standard of excellence will be set by using a process of research, implementation, and train-and-coach.

The Northern Suburban Special Education District (NSSED) is a special education cooperative that provides programs, services and coaching and consultation to our 18 member districts.

39,000 General Education students within our 18 member district
6,100 Students Receive Special Education (16%)
5,640 Students Enrolled in District Based Programs (14.5%)
1100 Students within our member districts receive Support Services (3%)
463 Students Enrolled in NSSED Instructional Programs (1.5%)
- 240 students are enrolled in our Educational and Life Skills (ELS) Program housed in 24 classrooms within our member district general education buildings
- 137 students of North Shore Academy (NSA) are served at two locations, North Shore Academy Elementary on Revere Drive in Northbrook, and North Shore Academy Middle and High School on the NSSED campus in Highland Park.
- 86 students are enrolled in our Early Childhood Program (ECP) Program housed in five classrooms within our member district general education buildings
